Album Review : Intervals – The Space Between
”Instrumental music can spread the international language.” – Herb Alpert
Intervals is an instrumental Tech/Math Metal band with its members spanning from Canada to India. Intervals released their EP ‘ The Space Between ‘ on 20th December and is available as a ‘name your price’ on their bandcamp page. Complex solos, spine-breaking riffs, aggressive drumming and some kick ass programming is what defines Intervals.
The E.P. has a total of 5 tracks, as follows
1. Begin 02:25
2. Still Winning 02:20
3. Duality 03:44
4. Sonar 04:39
5. Inertia 06:49
The E.P. starts with ‘Begin’ which is more of an ambi-djent track, with clean guitars and simple djent riffs. A good start to this epic album. ‘Still Winning’ the second track off the EP is that track which makes you want to have a seven stringer. Amazing composition, beauty in chaos. The riffs are pretty complex and I recommend you to check out the play through on YouTube. A short track, a brutal track.
‘Duality’ is my personal favorite. Anup Sastry, the Skyharbor whiz kid has killed it on this track. The drum cover by him is a must on YouTube. The track has crazy guitar solos, Alex and Lukas have done some quality work. ‘Sonar’ is the fourth track and is as complex as any other track. Nice effort put in by the programming side in this track. The breakdown is just perfect and pretty specific.
Acoustic intro, Post metal-ish feel, out-of-the-way bass lines, ‘Inertia’ is a track to get lost into. The longest on the album, this six-minute track is a masterpiece. Such an ambient track, but still has the djent elements that move you. Splendid composition. There couldn’t have been a better way to end this EP.
Djentlemen, this is just the beginning of it, wait for this instrumental revolution. Sometimes you don’t need vocals to make your mark. This is one epic album. Download or DIE!
Rating – 8.5/10
